National Cadet Corps (NCC)

Session 2018-19

Every year, the NCC unit of Darjeeling Government College organizes a number of social service activities in accordance with its commitment towards developing character, comradeship, discipline, spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service among the youth.

The following is the activities the session 2018-19

1. Nukkad Natak Performance and Mass Awareness Rally on the theme “Cleanliness is Service” campaign (15^th September – 2^nd October), was organized on 21^st September, 2018 in the college premises and at Mall Road.

Apart from the social service activities the cadets need to attend various camps to complete their course in NCC, the following are the student cadets who have attended camps of state and national interest.

Session 2019-20

Every year, the NCC unit of Darjeeling Government College organizes a number of social service activities in accordance with its commitment towards developing character, comradeship, discipline, spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service among the youth. With the pandemic bringing a halt to all physical activities in 2020 and 2021, many activities of NCC had to be abandoned. However, online activities were conducted during the lockdown and then again normal activities were organized after the lockdown was lifted:

1. Tree Plantation Drive was conducted at Haridashatta, Darjeeling, in co-operation with the village Gram Sudhar Sammelan on 24th July 2019.
2. Nukkad Natak and Mass Awareness Rally were organized on Swach Bharat Abhiyan at Rink Mall and Hill Cart Road respectively, in October 2019.
3. On 21st June 2020, online Yoga was conducted wherein interested cadets were encouraged to upload their yoga videos on social media.

Session 2020-21

Even though many activities were abandoned due to covid 19 in this session however online activities were conducted during the lockdown.

The following are the activities that was performed during the session 2020-21

1. Online Tree Plantation Drive was conducted in the month of July 2020, wherein all cadets were encouraged to plant trees in their respective areas and share the photos of the same on social media.
2. Online “Fit India Campaign” was conducted in june 2021 as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav where the cadets uploaded their running/jogging photos and videos.

Session 2021-22

Even though many activities were abandoned due to covid 19 in this session however online activities were conducted during the lockdown and then again normal activities were organized after the lockdown was lifted:

The following are the activites that was performed during the session 2021-22

1. “Fit India Freedom Run” was organized by our college on 4th October 2021 where cadets of other hill colleges also participated. 
2. NCC Day was celebrated on 28th November 2021 at the college basketball court from 10:30am to 1:30pm. Cadets of other hill colleges also participated in the said event.
3. Plastic Management Drive was conducted on 10th December 2021 at Tiger Hill which was a combined effort of NCC and NSS units of the college.
4. World environment day was observed by planting the sampling in the campus on 5th June 2023.

Achievements of NCC cadets

Session 2022-23

The following are the activities that was performed during the session 2022-23

1. The NCC hosted the Presentation/ Awareness Lecture on Recruitment as Airmen in Indian Air force at the college Seminar Hall on 23rd March 2022.
2. NCC boys were decleared  the winner of independence day parade conducted  by the distrist administration on 15th august 2022.
3. Along with NSS  a Blood donation Camp was organized on 5th May 2023.
4. World environment day was observed by cleaning the campus and planting of the saplings in the campus on 5th June 2023.

Achievements of NCC cadets

1. SUO Furdiki Sherpa successfully scaled Mount Tenchenkhang in West Sikkim in May, 2019. She received the Governor’s Silver Medal for successfully completing Advance Mountaineering Course from the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and successfully completing the Search and Rescue Training from NIM Uttarkashi.
2. Cadet Umika Tamang received the Governor’s Silver medal for successfully completing Special Basic Mountaineering Course from Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports in Jammu and Kashmir. 
3. SUO Shriya Subba participated in the Republic Day Parade on 26th January 2019 in New Delhi.
4. SUO Sapna Biswa participated in the Republic Day Cultural event on 26th January 2019 in New Delhi.
5. WB20SWA209380 Cadet Yangchen Sherpa participated in the Advanced Leadership Camp-VI at Kharagpur from 28th May 2022- 8th June 2022.
6. WB20SWA205372 Cadet Bidhisha Ramudamu Biswakarma participated in the Republic Day Parade on 26th January 2023 in New Delhi.
7. WB20SWA205372 Cadet Bidhisha Ramudamu Biswakarma participated in the Youth Exchange Programme in October 2023 in Russia.
8. Cadet Sanjok Tamang received the  Governor’s Silver medal in 2023.
9. SUO Rubool Subba received the Governor’s  silver medal 2019.
10. SUO Sujil Pradhan Governor’s Silver Medal.
